Chris & Allison {Modern Romance at the Montelucia}

Chris & Allison’s Black Tie Wedding at the Omni Montelucia is the definition of modern romance. From Allison’s delicate off the shoulder gown to the bountiful white rose centerpieces, not a detail was overlooked in their gorgeous wedding thanks to Laurie with Two Hearts and a Planner!

My day together began with Allison, her mother and bridesmaids. So much love filled the room; you could just feel the excitement in the air! While Allison was getting dolled up, I took a few detail shots of the dress, rings and shoes of course! Allison rocked my favorite Badgley Mischka shoes, the Kiara! .. I could go on and on about these beauties! The bridesmaids and Allison’s mother relaxed in their personalized silk robes, so of course we had to take a few shots before slipping Allison into her bridal gown!

One of my favorite moments from Chris & Allison’s special day was their first look. As we were walking over to their first look location, I even started to get butterflies myself! It is these special, quiet moments where I always whisper to myself – damn, I love my job! We fluffed Allison’s train and got her in perfect position and snapped a quick photo of her before she saw Chris for the first time. You can just see the love/excitement/nervousness on her face!

After the first look, we boogied straight into bridal party pictures. This group made it easy for me, I mean look at them! They are so stinkin good looking! Allison’s bridesmaids wore gorgeous navy cap sleeved gowns with the most beautiful jeweled adornments, while her maid of honor wore the same gown in a silver color. Talk about glam! These ladies deserve to be in a magazine! I also have to give it up to the groomsmen, who looked especially dapper themselves in their classic navy tuxedos.

For the ceremony, Fred’s Signature Events  really outdid themselves! The aisle began with a gorgeous arrangement of hydrangeas, roses and eucalyptus leaves featured in a grand gold vase. The aisle was lined with rose petals that accompanied Moroccan styled white lanterns. Fred’s also designed a custom phalaenopsis orchid flower curtain adorned with candles in floating bulbs for their altar. All of this beauty combined with Camelback Mountain as the backdrop and a gorgeous couple made for a picture perfect ceremony!

After the ceremony we snuck away to capture a few sunset photos among the fountains of the Omni Montelucia. By this time, the nerves were gone and Allison and Chris were ready to par-tay! While the newlyweds made their way to cocktail hour, I was able to head to the reception to get some detail shots. Be prepared to fall in love! Candlelight everywhere, romantic white florals, soft gold linens and one killer cake – swooooning over here!

Allison & Chris’ reception was one that I will always remember. The speeches that their families shared, epic dance moves and the memory of the groomsmen attempting their best GQ shots while smoking a cigar are forever engraved in my memory. I truly loved being able to celebrate and capture their special day. Now it’s time to enjoy the married life! XO – Casey

A huge thank you to the wonderful team of vendors who came together to make this day possible!

Sara + Stevie {Country Club Cuties}

When I first met Sara + Stevie I knew that they were the perfect I Do couple! For one, they laughed at all my jokes. Two, they love being outside + exploring Arizona on their beach cruisers! And three, they are just so stinkin adorable together!

After their engagement session at their beautiful Rafterhouse in Arcadia (swoon), I was counting down the days until their wedding! With a higher guest count around 250, I knew Sara + Stevie’s big day was going to be one big fiesta when they told me they had 3 different musical sets and a confetti exit. And trust me, they partied ALL NIGHT LONG!

Their beautiful wedding was hosted at Paradise Valley Country Club with the stunning backdrop of Camelback Mountain. Avante Garde designed all of the bright + fun florals and even a beautiful arrangement of hydrangeas, sunflowers + roses for their beach cruiser basket! I love how they brought their love for ‘cruisin’ into their wedding! After the ceremony, the Mariachi band serenaded the newly wed couple and played during cocktail hour. Their stunning reception in the big white tent was just flawless! The JJ’s Band keep the party going and everyone was on the dance floor. I mean, take a look at these epic reception pics!

Cheers to you, Sara + Stevie. Thank you for allowing me to capture the most intimate + special moments of your wedding day! I hope you two are livin it up, cruisin around town and loving the married life!

The First Look {A Must Do}

Planning your wedding is truly just an endless list of decision making! Will my ceremony be inside or outside? To have a cake topper or just stick with flowers? Do I want my bridesmaids to have all matching dresses or let them pick their own? What will our first dance song be? Oh- the endless decisions!

One question that my couples typically turn to me for is – Should we do a first look or not? I am always a HUGE advocate of YES YES, AND YES! There are so many advantages of doing a first look on your wedding day. Let’s chat about them!

Do Not Disturb

For those who may not know, a first look is when the couple sees each other for the first time on their wedding day, in a private setting without any friends or family around! Throughout the high stress of the wedding, the first look allows you to calm your pre wedding jitters and wrap your arms around your loved one! I’ll be there to capture your first embrace, first kiss and essentially, the look in your soon to be hubby’s eyes the moment he or she sees you for the first time. The emotion is so raw & beautiful and I am lucky enough to capture it through my lens!

Timing is Everything

Doing a first look allows you to get couple portraits, family & bridal party photos out of the way! This way, during cocktail hour we can sneak away to take some great sunset shots (depending on the timing of the day) or you can actually attend cocktail hour! After a long day of taking pictures & posing, sometimes my couples can’t wait to get to cocktail hour! This also allows me to get capture you interacting with your guests during cocktail hour & also capture the details of your reception that you’ve worked so hard on!

Memories to Hang

The first look photos are sometimes my favorites! I swoon over photos where the groom’s reaction is just priceless. That is a moment you can never get back but it can be captured through my camera and preserved forever! The first look photos would be a great memory on your household to tell the story of your beautiful wedding day!

Picture Perfect

If you know you’ll get emotional during your ceremony, I would suggest doing a first look! For one, your makeup will be pristine & hair flawless. We can capture some beautiful photos of you two before the tears flow during the walk down the aisle. I’m telling you – a first look is the way to go!

Here are a few of my favorite first look moments throughout the years:

Arizona {My Inspiration}

As an Arizona Native, Arizonian, Zonie (am I missing any others?) I can honestly say that the beauty of my home state never ceases to amaze me! The palms, the Palo Verde trees, the cacti, the aloe verde plants, the sage! It is no surprise that many visitors come to Arizona for vacations, honeymoons, or even destination weddings. We have perfect weather for about 80% of the year and we have the best of both worlds – the desert & the mountains!

There’s nothing I love more than being out exploring our beautiful desert on a quest find the perfect engagement photo location! I love the exquisite & unique look of a beautiful couple dressed to the nines standing in the raw, Sonoran desert. Those are the shots I live for.

One of my absolute favorite locations that shows Arizona’s true beauty is The Desert Botanical Gardens. The Desert Botanical Gardens features all of the beauties of the Sonoran Desert  & is an excellent backdrop for your engagement shoot or the perfect location for a stunning wedding under the stars. The garden is a wonderful way to show out-of-state family members just how stunning our state is!  It is quintessential Arizona in all of it’s glory.

My best advice for couples who are getting married in Arizona is to take advantage of the natural scenery around you! Our deserts landscapes bring warm colors, rich textures and signature sunsets to your love story!

Here are a few of my favorite pictures captured at Desert Botanical Gardens.

Erik + Mikayla {Glamour on the Green}

As a wedding photographer, I have to sometimes stop and pinch myself! I feel truly blessed and honored that my couples select me to capture the intimate memories throughout their special day! How amazing is that?!  It never fails that we start this relationship as partners and end as friends.  And with Mikayla + Eric, they made me feel just like family every step of the way.

Erik + Mikayla’s beautiful wedding at Ocotillo Golf Course was filled with family, lots of laughter + love. There were so many heart felt moments from this loving couple and their families! Mikayla’s mother delivered a beautiful speech during the reception, and there was not a dry eye in the room.  You know it is a good toast when the bride’s family makes the groom cry tears of joy!  Even better, the dance floor was packed ALL.NIGHT.LONG. I love it when the couples let loose during the reception! It sets the tempo for the rest of the night and keeps the party going! I love these little moments that I can turn into a lifetime of memories.

I like to think of Erik + Mikayla’s wedding as Glamour on the Green. Their wedding was held at Ocotillo Golf Course in Chandler. However, this wasn’t your typical golf course wedding! Mikayla’s attention to detail, color & aesthetic really showed! Their ceremony featured modern, acrylic columns with dramatic white, blue & green florals. The wine bottles were customized with their own engagement photos. Mikayla’s artistic touch permeated throughout the wedding, giving us a beautiful Glamour on the Green wedding!

Taylor and Andy {This Girl is on Fire}

Taylor and Andy were married at Soho63 this past spring.  I knew that this would be an amazing day the second Taylor called me to inquire.  Her personality and energy is just infectious.  She draws you in like a moth to a flame.

Enter Andy.  One of the kindest, most genuine guys I have ever met.  We happened to have photographed Andy’s family formals first, before the ceremony.  It was totally obvious where his personality came from and Kelli and I fell in love with his parents and siblings right off the bat.  A family of all boys, these guys kept us on our toes, laughing, and crying, all day.  Between Andy’s friends from the firehouse and his siblings, it was truly a band of brothers that were beyond excited for the day ahead.

Then we moved on to Taylor and her girls, parent’s and siblings.  Just when we thought we couldn’t laugh or cry anymore, dad’s toast included a poem.  Mom, bride and sisters had a dance battle at the reception. And brother was there to help at the drop of a hat.  And Taylor, was well, Taylor.  She danced, sang, laughed, and mingled with every guest at that wedding.  She just draws you in. And the fireman, he is the perfect compliment.

We knew this day was special and it is truly one for the memory books.  In all of the best ways possible.

Morgan and Michael {A Match Made in Heaven}

Morgan and Michael were married last month at El Chorro.  And it was El Amazing.  The view, the team, the guests – everything was picture perfect.

These two are a match made in heaven.  I just adore both of them to pieces.  We hit it off instantly and I have loved getting to know the two of them over the last several months.  You know it’s going to be a great day when you realize within about 5 minutes that you and the bride have the same sense of humor, and are finishing each others jokes.

I always say that first and foremost the vendors you hire need to be a good personality fit.  Especially with the photographer.  When it comes down to it, most couples end up spending at least 9 hours with me on the wedding itself.  The process and outcome are so much more enjoyable if there is a good connection and you can have fun with each other.  It’s your wedding day after all!  No since in adding additional stress over a relationship that ends up not being a good fit for the couple or the vendor.

With that being said, the whole team of vendors for this desert wedding day rocked.  I can’t thank them enough for making my life easy, the event so seamless, and the day so special for M&M.  It was a pleasure!

Peggy and Tom {Let Love Bloom}

I have got to get better at this blogging thing.  Considering that this wedding was on 10/4 and the bride and groom received their images on 10/18, there is NO reason that it should take me this long to post them!!  I guess it’s a good thing that it is a new year and I have an excuse to set some new goals-blogging being one of them.  Or just celebrating and shouting more often.

I adore this wedding, and this couple, and their families, and the team behind all this beauty, Life Design Event Planning.  The Desert Botanical Gardens is my happy place and on October 4th I am pretty sure it became just that for Peggy and Tom too.

Think anthro-tanical.  A little eclectic, a little gardeny, and a lot of love.  A huge that you to the team that made this all possible.  So fortunate to work with each of you to give this beautiful couple such a magical memory.

Ashley and Chris {A Sweet Treat}

Meet Ashley and Chris-two of the sweetest people you will ever run across.  Seriously, they are total gems.  I am so excited for their wedding next fall!

First of all, they are working with a top-notch team of vendors courtesy of Andrea Leslie Weddings and Events.  Second, the wedding is at the Royal Palms which is so very near and dear to my heart. My history at the beautiful resort runs deep-from my great grandmother day’s there as a housekeeper to my own wedding in 2006. And last but not least, these two are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside.

Ashley and Chris, I am counting the days until your “I do’s”!  Clients like you are a sweet treat that always make me come back for more!
